'Yana and the Yeti'
by Pickled Image
Touring 2021-22
Imagine being far, far from home and all alone, arriving
in a remote snow-bound village, surrounded by dense forest and strange
noises. This is how Yana’s story begins. She can’t understand a word
anyone says and the other children tease her with tales of mythical
mountain monsters. Then things start to get really hairy....
Featuring exquisite music, Arctic landscapes and a cast of extraordinary puppets, Yana and the Yeti is aimed at family audiences (5+). This is a dark, funny and poignant tale of a small child’s determination to be understood and her discovery that friends can come in the most unexpected shapes and sizes.
This show was made in Northern Norway, above the Arctic Circle where
Yetis still exist. Co-Produced by Nordland Visual Theatre. Written
by Pickled Image and Hattie Naylor. A trailer for the show can be
found here.
Running time: 1 hour approximately. Recommended age: 5+
Praise for Yana and the Yeti:
“Magical, beguiling, emotional and eye-wideningly beautiful”
Bristol 24/7
“A delightfully designed family show” ★★★★

'Fireside Tales with Granddad'
by Pickled Image
Not currently touring
Fireside Tales with Granddad is a show based around
Pickled Images’ adorable puppet Granddad. Granddad has already
had huge success with our previous show Travels with Granddad
and toured in the UK for two years. Fireside Tales
has been created to fit larger theatre spaces and features
an array of wonderful puppets, a shadow film and beautiful stories
all crafted by Adam Fuller (the puppeteer of Granddad). The show is
ideal for family audiences and can suit non-theatre spaces as long
as there is enough performance space.
Cuddle up around the campfire as Granddad recalls a daring escape
from a hungry shark. Tuck into a marshmallow or two as he attempts
to make a new set of underpants for a giant. And watch as the shadows
between the trees unravel a tale of greedy goblins, grumpy trolls,
sneaky princes and a very unusual princess. Exquisite puppets, captivating
storytelling, beautiful shadow puppetry combine to create an enchanting
show guaranteed to spark the imagination of everyone
Running time: 50 minutes approx. Intended audience: Families with
children 4+
Testimonials
Fantastic interaction with the audience, quizzing the children with brilliant conversation throughout. Another sold-out performance by Pickled Image, all audience left with a smile asking when Granddad would be back. The Pound in Corsham

'Coulrophobia'
by Pickled Image
Dik and Adam are traditional clowns in a very untraditional
situation. They somehow find themselves in a world where everything
is made of cardboard: chairs, tables, a lift, musical instruments
and even a boat. They have no idea why they are here or what they
are supposed to be doing; only that their actions seem to be beyond
their control, almost as if someone else was making them perform
against their will. Through a series of outrageous sketches, involving
slapstick, mime and much audience participation, the two clowns
discover that they are indeed trapped in this cardboard world and
being controlled by an evil presence: the diminutive yet terrifying
Poco the Clown. The only way to escape their dilemma is to dupe
two members of the audience into taking their places. Will this
be possible? That depends on how persuasive they can actually be
…
Running time: 70 minutes approx. Intended audience: Adult/Young
Adult (minimum recommended age 16)
Testimonials
“ I haven’t laughed so hard since I saw Flåklypa Grand Prix (a
Norwegian animated film) as a seven year old, and I almost got sad
when it all was over.”
Even Biering-Strand, Våganavi
“Masterful clown-play. The term ‘fear of clowns’ is lifted to a
completely new level after the latest masterpiece from Pickled Image.”
“Coulrophobia – fear of clowns” is one of the sickest things I
have seen on a stage. It is an unrestrained display of theatrical
madness I can promise you have never experienced before.”

Pickled Image featuring a feast of festive stories, including a

and the mischievous shenanigans of the Tomten - a feisty Gnome,
who loves the chance to swap gossip with woodland creatures, and
who might just be the reason Granddad can't find his favourite tree
decoration.
Creating a sense of the fireside in the theatre, Granddad will
welcome imaginative input from the audience as he weaves his own
brand of heart-warming storytelling and festive cheer.
Intended Audience: 3+. Running time: 1 hour approximately
Testimonials
“The run was a triumph, greeted with massive enthusiasm and smashing
box-office records on the way. I loved the non-patronising, inclusive
nature of the story – the age-range is often talked down to – and
the extraordinary levels of care and love given to so many details
of the show. We’re absolutely thrilled to have hosted the show here.”

Jeremy really, really loves Christmas. All he wants is
for each Christmas to be perfect; mince pies, stockings, mistletoe
and especially, (and this is the icing on the Christmas cake)…lots
and lots of SNOW!
But, who exactly brings the snow? Santa? Rudolph? Jack Frost? No,
it’s the one job left in the heavy hands of the Trolls of Winter.
However, the trolls are fed up with never getting any of the credit.
It’s always those cheery, little elves and that red nosed reindeer
celebrated at Christmas, while the hard working trolls miss out.
Not once have they been on an advent calendar or featured in a
carol, so this year, unless they get their ugly mugs on at least
one Christmas card, there will be NO SNOW!
With silliness, laughter, stunning puppets (and maybe a humbug
or two), Pickled Image (Fireside Tales with Granddad and Wolf Tales)
present a magical Christmas extravaganza – Santa’s Little Trolls.

'The Shop of Little Horrors'
by Pickled Image
Currently Unavailable
Grimlake’s Emporium of Novelties: a dilapidated shop on the outskirts
of Nowhere, where corny magic tricks and strange puppets collect dust
and cobwebs. No one has entered the shop for years, but that’s just
fine by proprietor Albert Grimlake.
Albert is a man obsessed with puppets, particularly ventriloquist
dummies – each face lovingly crafted by his own hand, and bearing
an uncanny resemblance to customers, friends and family long gone.
But Grimlake is growing old and knows he won’t last forever. He has
no son, no successor. Time is running out to find someone to keep
the Emporium open, someone to breathe life into his creations, someone
who shares his peculiar passion for puppets…
Enter Eric. He’s young, he’s eager, and he’s seen all the Muppet
movies, twice. He’s the perfect applicant: keener than mustard and
easily moulded. But Eric discovers there’s so much to learn.
How do you scream without moving your lips?
Running time: 70 minutes. Intended audiencer: Adult/Young Adult (minimum
recommended age 12)
